AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV CELEBRATION AT ARMED FORCES TRAINING INSTITUTES (AUG 22)

MILITARY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY


Cycling Expedition.On 09th and 14th Aug 22, a cycling expedition covering 30 kms was organised for the personnel of MILIT. Enthusiastic participation was also exhibited by ladies and children. The expedition was flagged off from Sarv Dharm Sthal, MILIT and followed the scenic route along Khadakwasla - Panshet road till Osadeji Temple and culminated at Sarv Dharm Sthal, MILIT.


The scenic ride to Osadeji temple and back was a pleasant experience for the participants. Strong headwinds and rainfall further added to the sense of adventure for the participants. Overall, the cycling expedition proved to be an excellent opportunity for the personnel to exercise as well as ignite their sense of adventure.


Sinhgad Fort Trek. On 15th August, personnel along with their families trekked to the Sinhgad fort. The trek was filled with enthusiasm and excitement as the personnel and their families trekked all the way to the top.


Health Run. As a part of run up to the Independence Day week, a health run for seven kms was conducted as a part of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsa'. All the personnel successfully completed the event and finalists securing top three positions were awarded with medals. The aim of the run was to inculcate a habit and culture of physical fitness.

National Flag & Drawing Competition. Lecture by school teachers of Tiny Tots School was conducted on 12 Aug 22. The teachers explained all children about the history & importance of National Flag. It was followed by competition for all children on 'Drawing and Colouring' of National Flag.


Cultural Pgme by Students. On 15th August, a Fashion Show was conducted by students on the theme 'Unity in Diversity'. The students displayed culture and dresses of various states. Students were dressed as Freedom Fighters and delivered famous slogans of freedom fighters; whereas the others performed musicals skit & dance performance, and delivered the message of 'Change of thought process of common man of India with changing times'. The event was followed by felicitation of the shining stars. The event concluded with release of tricoloured balloons in the sky.


Guest Lecture A guest lecture on the topic "The battles that shaped Indian History" was conducted by a renowned historian and veteran, Col Ajay Singh (Retd) on 16 Aug 2022. It was attended by 180 x Offrs including student offrs and posted staff.



DEFENCE SERVICES STAFF COLLEGE

Cultural Programme. On 03 Aug 22, Stage play 'NOOR' was conducted by Ruchika Theatre group from Delhi. The event was attended by the Staff with family, and Veterans. This event, promoted National Solidarity, Integration and provided a social platform to witness and interact with the best theatre group who are making the country proud through their enthralling performances.



Hike on 20 Aug 22. A trekking hike covering 13 Kms to Kodamalai Temple and back via Highfield Tea Estate was organised on 20 August. Over 400 participants including ladies and children participated in the event. The hike enabled participants to explore the flora & fauna of the jungles around and experience first hand the geographical diverseness and vast tribal heritage of the countryside.



COLLEGE OF DEFENCE MANAGEMENT

SALSRC. The 7th Self Awareness Life Skills & Responsible Citizens (SALSRC) Course commenced at College of Defence Management, Secunderabad in coordination with Osmania University. The inaugural session was graced by Prof P Venkataiah, Dean Faculty of Commerce & Business Management, Osmania University.



'Ideas@75'. A guest lecture by Shri Sanjeev Sanyal, member Economic Advisory Committee to the Prime Minister on 'India's Economic Trajectory in VUCA World' was conducted on 17 Aug 22. The lecture was scheduled to provide an insight into how economic decisions are taken at the apex level in a VUCA world. All participant officers of HDMC 18 and the Directing Staff attended the guest lecture at Ashoka auditorium. Shri Sanjeev Sanyal who is a renowned Economist & Historian, thereafter addressed the Indian Cultural Study Forum on his ideas on the topic 'Indian Wisdom: Stategies to meet contemporary challenges'.



Swatch Bharat Sunder Bharat. liness drive was undertaken in the college from 13 Aug 22 to 14 Aug 22 named 'Swatchatta Pakhwada'. All personal alongwith their family members participated in this cleanliness mission.


NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY

Independence Run. Inter Sqn Cross Country Competition based on the 75th year of Independence theme was conducted on 07 Aug 22 over a distance of 13.8 Kms.



Academy Essay Competition for the Dogra Regiment Book Prize Competition for the Dogra Regiment Book prize was conducted with AKAM as underlying theme on 20 Aug 22 on the topic "Swarnim Vijay Varsh: 1971 War a Turning Point in Indian History".

ANDAMAN & NICOBAR COMMAND

Blood Donation Camp. ation Camp was organized in collaboration with GB Pant Hospital on 10 Aug & 12 Aug 22. The drive witnessed participation from a total of 131 personnel who volunteered and donated blood for the noble cause.

Visit to Orphanage. A community outreach programme to Seva Niketan Orphanage was organized on 11 Aug 22. In Order to extend support to the underprivileged children, basic amenities like fridge, fans. TV, tube lights, school bags, kitchen utensils etc were donated.

ANDAMAN & NICOBAR COMMAND

Beach Cleanship Drive. Shore units undertook Shramdaan drive on 12 Aug 22 towards beach cleanship.

75 Km Swim. To commemorate 75 Years of Independence, CDU (PBR) and MARCOS conducted 75 km of relay swimming by 75 personnel.

Flypast.Chetak helicopters undertook Flag trooping on 11, 13 and 14 Aug 22 around Port Blair - North Point light, NSCB Island and the Flag Post at Marina Bay.

Illumination of Ships. the evening of 15 Aug 22, illumination of ships at anchorage near the Flag Point was carried out. Naval Component, Indian Coast Guard, Marine Police and DSS participated in the event. Officials and citizens witnessed firing of flares from ships, illuminating ceremony, fireworks from NSCB Island and band performance.

Ships Open for Visitors. Ships were opened for visit by Defence personnel and families on 12-13 Aug 22. During the visit, families were taken on a guided tour of the ships and the visitors were briefed about operations and life onboard ships.

Visit to Singapore by INS Saryu. INS Saryu celebrated Independence Day at Changi Naval Base, Singapore. The Ship was open to visitors of Indian diaspora. The Ship is a part of Indian Navy's initiative to hoist Tiranga in six continents across three oceans and in six different time zones.

Outreach to Veterans. As a part of outreach programme, interaction with veterans and dependents at their homes was carried out.

Joint Band Display.As a part of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' commemorating 75 years of Independence, a joint band display was organised at Flag Pt on 25 Aug 2022. The audience present swirled into the melodious notes of the band.
