Yoga has emerged as one of the most trusted means to boost physical and mental well- being. The essence of yoga is balance - not just balance within the body or that between the mind and the body, but also balance in the human relationship with the world. Yoga emphasized the values of mindfulness, moderation, discipline and perseverance. When applied to communities and societies, Yoga offers a path for sustainable living. Yoga has emerged as one of the most trusted means to boost physical and mental wellbeing. Due to Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi's relentless efforts, 21 Jun 22 was declared as the International Yoga Day by the United Nations General Assembly.
Yoga for Humanity The theme for International Yoga Day on 21 June is "Yoga for Humanity" which is intended at bringing to light the physical, mental, and emotional state people. Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi in his address during the opening of the 69th session of the General Assembly, in which he said: "Yoga is an invaluable gift from our ancient tradition. Yoga embodies unity of mind and body, through and action … a holistic approach {that} is valuable to our health and our well-being. Yoga is not just about exercise, it is a way to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature."
Yoga is more than a physical activity, Yoga can be an important instrument in the collective guest of humanity for promoting sustainable lifestyle in harmony with planet Earth. In keeping with this spirit, the theme for this year’s Yoga Day Celebrations is "Yoga for Humanity."
Celebration of International Yoga Day : 21 Jun 22.
MILIT, DSSC, CDM & NDA : The following activities were carried out
MILIT On International Yoga Day on 21 Jun 2022 at MILIT, in the spirit of this year theme 'Yoga for Humanity' a yoga session was organised for all the personnel of MILIT to inspire and encourage them to practice yoga as daily routine for holistic wellbeing, contentment, stress management and associated health benefits.
DSSC A Yoga session of 45 mins was carried out under the guidance of Yoga Instructors from ISHA Foundation. The CYP was undertaken and the participants performed the CYP with great energy and vigour. A total of 450 participants comprising of Offrs', JCOs/ OR and CDE alongwith families performed the CYP. A Yoga Quiz Competition as well as feedback on conduct of Yoga was obtained from the participants. Important links incl Min of Ayush portal, lectures and literature was shared through College WAN to all Permt Officers & Student Officers and dependents to promote values of Yoga in day to day life. In furtherance of the vision of 'Hum Fit Toh India Fit' and 'Fitness through Yoga', Defence Services Staff College, Wellington conducted Countdown for '8th International Day of Yoga' on 30 May 2022 as well.
CDM International Yoga Day 2022 was observed with due fervour and enthusiasm by all ranks at CDM on 24 Jun 2022. The event was held at the CDM main lawns in which the permanent staff posted at the CDM participated. A talk on the benefits of Yoga was delivered before commencement of the event and live demonstration by the Yoga qualified individuals was carried out. The participants also followed the Yoga asanas (exercises) in the lush green lawns and the sports arena of the CDM.
NDA The activities were carried out in the spirit of Yoga day and were a roaring success in motivating personnel to regularly undertake Yoga.
