AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV CELEBRATION AT ARMED FORCES TRAINING INSTITUTES (APR - JUN 2022)

College of Defence Management CDM organised a Swachh Bharat Campaign -"Green & Clean CDM" to achieve Mahatma Gandhi's dream of a clean and hygienic India. During this one week-long activity from 09 May 22 to 14 May 22, various measures were taken towards cleanliness, identification of waste, waste segregation, waste disposal and water conservation. The special focus was on making the campus and surroundings plastic-free, with emphasis on No Single-use Plastic usage.


National Defence Academy
PT & Equestrian Display.Keeping the spirit of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' in mind and to bid a befitting farewell to the Passing out Course 'PT and Equestrian display' was organised at the Bombay Stadium. The event comprised of a Sky diving demo by the renowned Akash Ganga Team of IAF, a demonstration of an attack on enemy positions by Army Cadets and simulated air strikes by Super Dimona aircraft. The show was witnessed by the Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, PVSM, AVSM, VM, ADC, Chief of the Air Staff Reviewing Officer alongwith parents of Cadets of 142nd Course on 29 May 22.

200 M SPRINT RACE IN TRACK & FIELD COMPETITION

NDA Passing Out Parade. The Passing out Parade on 30 May 22 was reviewed by Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, PVSM, AVSM, VM, ADC, Chief of the Air Staff. 317 Cadets of 142nd Course passed out, which included 212 Army, 36 Naval and 69 Air Force Cadets, including 19 Cadets from Friendly Foreign Countries. The parents of the 142nd Course attended the ceremony. The event was broadcasted live on DD-Sahyadri, besides being live streamed on YouTube channel of DD National as well as PRO NDA. The Passing Out Parade was befitting spectacle of National Unity and embodiment of nationalist fervor as well as jointness between the three Services.

DEFENCE SERVICES STAFF COLLEGE

Run Up to Yoga Day : 19 May 22 DSSC, Wellington conducted Countdown for '8th International Day of Yoga' on 19 May 2022. The event was Attended by 15 Officers, 08 JCOs and 58 OR attended the Countdown Day of '8th International Day of Yoga' conducted at the Indoor Stadium on 19 May 22.The events included, a Yoga session of 40 min under the guidance of Yoga Teacher, Offline Quiz Competition amongst all participants. Cultural evening on 17 Jun 22 violin concert by cultural troupe led by Padma Shri Sangeetha Kalanidhi Kalaimanani Kumari Avasarala Kanyakumari was conducted on 17 Jun 22. Kumari Avasarala Kanyakumari is a renowned violinist with an experience spanning over 54 years.

Hike on 25 Jun 22 Trekking of over 11 Km from Banthumai Village to Ralliah Dam and then on Drona Offrs Mess. Over 500 participants including ladies and children participated in the event.

Welfare of Veer Widows' on 30 Jun 22 Over 600 officers, ladies and veterans of Wellington garrison attended the event. Mrs Shakunthala A Bhandarkar also shared her experiences which was well received by the audience. She also shared copies of the new book released on the life of Lt Col Ajit V Bhandarkar, SC.

MILITARY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

Lecture on Common Yoga Protocol: 20 May 22 As a precursor to International Yoga Day on 21 Jun 22, a lecture on 'Common Yoga Protocol' was organised for all the personal of MILIT on 20 May 22 to inspire and encourage them to practice yoga for holistic health, contentment and to ward off modern day maladies.

YOGA WORKSHOP A lecture on 'Common Yoga Protocol' and a 'Workshop on Yoga Exercises and Pranayam' was conducted by Gp Capt AK Gupta, HoF (Air Force) for all personnel of MILIT on 20 May & 30 May 22. The wksp was very well conducted with demonstration on various types of Yoga techniques/ exercises aimed at improving mental, physical, emotional & spiritual health. The conduct of wksp was very well received and appreciated by all pers of MILIT. Due to the infusion of knowledge on yoga exercises, set the tone of arrival of 'International Yoga Day'.

Plantation Drive by NTSC-40 A tree plantation drive was organised by student offrs of NTSC-40 at Naval Experimental Bay (NEB), MILIT in the month of April. Many medicinal plants were also planted in the hope for betterment of the environment. The student officers participated in the drive enthusiastically and helped each other in planting the saplings. All the saplings were planted in the NEB ground by officers. The officers also took an oath to look after the planted saplings, plant more and more trees.

Cleanliness Drive To accelerate the efforts to achieve the clean India initiative and to put the focus on sanitation Swachh Bharat Abhiyan - a cleanliness drive was launched by MILIT. This drive was a wonderful experience for student officers to motivate them to contribute their bit to society and play a major role to raise awareness on the importance of cleanliness in one's neighbourhood. This drive was one of the many steps taken by MILIT towards India's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiated by our Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi.

Visit by Students of Sainik School Korukonda on 27 May 2022. 88 students visited MILIT, accompanied by three staff members with an aim to get an insight into the equipment held by the institute and the type of technology trg conducted. They were shown various training facilities, equipment and models of tanks, aircrafts, submarines and torpedoes of the Indian Armed Forces.

Musical Night As part of Azaadi ka Amrut Mahotsav, a musical night was organised by officers of Course NTSC-40 with the help of staff officers. The event included an array of performances ranging from group songs to individual pieces. The night started with officers singing an old medley of songs of Lata Mangeshkar, Rafi, Kishore Kumar followed by solo singing by children and ladies.

To keep the audience involved, short games were conducted. The event also included instrumental pieces on rare instruments like Kalimba and Violin. All offrs & families keenly participated in this event.

Shram Dan As part of 'Azaadi ka Amrut Mahotsav', Officers of Course NTSC-40 took part in Shram Dan on 17 May 2022. Being responsible officers as well as citizens, through this activity, they contributed towards Swacch Bharat and keeping our surroundings clean.

This inculcated the spirit of team work and environmental awareness in the student officers.

Khadakwasla Parikrama An event to commemorate 'AZADI KA AMRUT MAHOTSAV', 18 Officers of NTSC-40 proceeded to Khadakwasla Parikrama on 26 Jun 2022 as a part of the activities organized for 75th Independence Day celebration. The officers started their journey at 0615 hrs from the main gate of MILIT. The light monsoon rains, the parallel flowing stream with the greenery all around along with the greeting morning crowd made this journey a memorable one. The first pit stop was taken at Panshet dam where the course enjoyed the short break followed by a light breakfast. The fine roads at the beginning followed by the muddy village roads made this rollercoaster ride a challenging as well as a thrilling experience.
