EVENTS CONDUCTED UNDER 'AZAADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV' AT ARMED FORCES TRAINING INSTITUTES (FEB 2022)

National Defence Academy Activities conducted at NDA to impress upon the spirit of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav' (AKAM) for the month of Feb 2022 are enumerated Various sports activities were organised with AKAM as the underlying theme.

Guest/ Motivational Lecture. Talk by Shri Baba Kalyani, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Forge Limited on 'Self Reliance in India's Defence Industry' impressing upon the importance of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' was conducted for Cadets and Faculty on 16 Feb 22 at Habibullah Hall.

Defence Services Staff College

Cultural Evening. Cultural Evening on 12 Feb 22 'SHIVO'HAM'(Contemporary Dance Ballet and Traditional Kalakshetra style Bharatanatyam) was performed for all DSSC officers and families at Sekhon auditorium. Lt Gen S Mohan, AVSM, SM, VSM, Comdt, DSSC was the Chief guest of the event.

'Shivo Ham' was performed by 25 dancers, mostly children from Coonoor of 'Nrutya Seva Niketan' under Guru Yalini who is an alumni of esteemed Kalakshetra Foundation at Chennai, who has also been conferred the title 'Natya Visharat'. The cultural performance included number of dances based on patriotic national symbols to include 'Vande Matram', Tribute to River Ganga' and 'Maa Tujhe Salaam' and was a true salute to India in its 75th year of Independence.

Hack Ride. As part of AKAM activities, Hack Ride was conducted on 26 Feb 22. A total of 63 riders participated including ladies & children with a view to keep up with equestrian skills, interact with members of Ooty Hunt Club (OHC) and keep the traditions alive. Salient highlights are as under:-

(a) Total of 15 km hack ride was conducted with final gallop in three groups at Ooty.
(b) A total of 24 riders participated.

Military Institute of Technology

Cycling Expedition.

An event to commemorate 'AZADI KA AMRUT MAHOTSAV'. On foggy morning of 5th Feb, 19 student officers of NTSC-40 along with their course Oi/C Cdr AS Bishnoi kicked off the cycling expedition, to Panshet at 0600 hrs.

Guest Lecture. Lecture on 'Scientific Approach to Physical Fitness' on 11 Feb 22 was conducted by Col Rajiv Ahlawat, a keen sportsman, fitness enthusiast and a student of 'Scientific Approach to Physical Fitness' as a part of 'Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav'. The lecture was very interesting & gave valuable insights to all offrs on the roadmap for ensuring physical fitness for overall well-being. It was attended by 240 student & staff offrs.

Cyber Awareness. The events of Cyber Awareness Week and writing of Book Review on Indian History by 75 Student offrs was conducted as a part of 'Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav'. The Cyber Awareness Week included lecs, discussion and competitions to raise the awareness level on Cyber Security. The competition involved video making & poster making competitons. The winners of the competition conducted as part of Cyber Awareness Week and of Book Review by Student Offrs of DSTSC-4 were felicitated by Comdt MILIT on 18 Feb 22.

College of Defence Management

Run-Walk-Cycling Triad. Under the AKAM initiative, the Purple Pacers Club of CDM led by Comdt organised a Run-Walk-Cycle triad to promote holistic fitness on 26 Feb 22.

Deshbhakti Geet, Lori Writing and Rangoli Competition. The Eco Club Finale was conducted at CDM. A competition of Deshbhakti Geet, Lori Writing and Rangoli Making was conducted as a part of AKAM. The activity was aimed at educating the future citizens of the country about the rich history and culture of the nation.
