ASSISTANCE RENDERED BY ARMED FORCES DURING CYCLONE ‘TAUKTAE’ : MAY 2021

13 May 2021, IMD issued a press release on the likely landfall of cyclone TAUKTAE, an extremely severe cyclonic storm between 16-18 May 2021. The preparations of the Armed Forces began immediately and all units and stations of the three Services located along the Western Coast were placed on high alert.18 relief columns, 11 diving teams and four ETFs were deployed and 724 NDRF personnel and 111 tons of load were inducted to Gujarat by Service aircraft.Eight ships conducted rescue ops off Mumbai Harbour and a total of 188 persons were rescued.Seaking helicopters rescued 35 persons, supplied food and water and four fishermen were rescued off Mangalore coast.
