International Yoga Day Celebrations at National Defence Academy (NDA)

NDA is one of the premier tri services pre commission training academies in the world. General Auckinleck, Commander in Chief of Indian Armyin 1943 suggested establishing of an Inter service academy. On 22 Sep 1945 it was decided that India should have only one academy to train officers of the three services. NDA was formally inaugurated on 16 Jan 1955 by Shri Morarji Desai, the then Chief Minister of erstwhile State of Bombay. NDA has given the country its first CDS, 13 Chief of Army Staff, 11 Chief of Naval Staff and 10 Chief of Air Staff.

True to their tradition of staying fit NDA emphasised on fitness to celeberate International Yoga Day on 21 Jun 21as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations. Yoga was conducted in cadets’cabin. A run for fun and Inter Squadron drill competition werealso conducted at NDA.
