Lieutenant General Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Yudh Seva Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, was commissioned into 4 RAJPUTANA RIFLES (OUTRAMS) in December 1983. He commanded 15 RAJPUTANA RIFLES.
A graduate of Defence Service Staff College, Wellington, he has attended Senior Command Course, Higher Command Course and prestigious National Defence College Course - 53. He has also attended Senior Offrs Course at Centre for Superior Studies of National Defence (CESEDEN) Madrid, Spain and Senior Executives Course on Transnational Security Cooperation at Asia Pacific Centre for Security Studies, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.
The General Officer has served a total of eight tenures in Counter Insurgency/Counter Terrorism Operational areas of which six in Kashmir valley and a tenure each in Jammu region and Manipur in North East. The General Officer has been an Instructor at Infantry School Mhow and abroad. The General Officer has four tenures in Perspective Planning Directorate and a tenure in Weapon and Equipment Directorate. He has been a Colonel General Staff of an Infantry Division on Western front and Brigadier General Staff of operationally active 15 Corps.
The General Officer commanded 7 Sector Rashtriya Rifles in Kashmir Valley, 36 Re-organised Army Plains Infantry Divisions (RAPID) as part of Strike Corps, and has the distinction of commanding elite 15 Corps during most challenging environment of Pulwama IED blast and Abrogation of Article 370 & 35A. Highlights of his tenure being eliminating the perpetrators of Pulwama terror attack within 100 hours and maint of total peace post 05 Aug in addition to “Operation Maa” and elimination of more than 200 Terrorists. He relinquished the Comd of 15 Corps in Mar 2020 and is presently Director General of Defence Intelligence Agency and Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Intelligence) under the Chief of Defence Staff.
