Welcome Message From Chief of Integrated Defence Staff
1. The Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC) was appointed on 01 October 2001 and Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) was created by a Government letter of 23 November 2001 to fulfil the pressing need for an institutional framework for higher management of defence. As presently constituted, HQ IDS functions as the principal arm and Secretariat to the Chiefs of Staff Committee. 2. As the head of this dynamic organisation, I welcome you to this web site. The main purpose of creating this web site is to disseminate to the environment the organisation, role, charter and current activities of HQ IDS. We also intend this web site to become a forum for discussion and exchange of views towards furthering the defence planning process in a Joint Services context. To this end, we actively solicit contributions from all interested agencies/individuals. 3. An institution like ours matures over time, becoming more effective as we go along.
